Key responsibilities

  • Fully lead the end-to-end process of visual language, aesthetic execution, UI aesthetics, tactile details, and interaction design.

  • An uncompromising eye for beauty β€” obsessed with top-tier visual aesthetics and texture.

Pre-interview design exercise: define the visual direction for Plushie

Plushie lets people upload a photo of a real plushie and bring it to life as an AI companion. They chat with their plushie, decorate its room, visit friends, give gifts, and build a relationship with it over time. We'd like you to explore the app as it is today and propose a stronger, more cohesive visual direction for it.

Your assignment

Download Plushie and spend real time in its main features:

  • Chat
  • Room & furniture
  • Friends & multiplayer
  • Gifts & social interactions
  • Shops, rewards & modals
  • Anything else you think matters
If you were responsible for leading the visual design of Plushie, what should the app look and feel like?

We are not looking for minor UI cleanup. We want to understand how you would establish a recognizable visual world and design system that extends across both the interface and the plushie's environment β€” everything from buttons, cards, modals, typography, icons and navigation to rooms, furniture, lighting, environments, illustrations and other game-like assets.

Please build your proposal in Figma or an equivalent professional design tool, and send a shareable link or file so we can review the screens, components, visual system and assets together. We want to see how you organize and communicate a direction in a working design environment β€” not just a static presentation or a written concept.

Please include

  1. Visual direction & moodboard

References, inspiration, color, typography, texture, illustration, and game or product references β€” plus a short explanation of what makes this direction distinctively Plushie.

  2. Core app UI

Redesign at least 2–3 existing Plushie screens or flows. At least one should be a modal or UI-heavy experience. Show how your design language holds up across different interface states.

  3. The Plushie world

Propose how the Room and its environment should look. Include example assets β€” furniture, decor, backgrounds, windows, flooring, lighting. Consider how the world can complement user-uploaded plushies rather than overpower them.

  4. Design system examples

Buttons, cards and modals, icons, color palette, typography, spacing, borders, shadows and surfaces β€” plus any recurring visual motifs you would introduce.

  5. One idea beyond the current product

A new social experience, room interaction, animation, collectible system, navigation concept, or any visual feature you think would make Plushie more delightful and memorable.

What we're evaluating

We care less about a huge number of screens and more about whether you can create a compelling, coherent visual point of view. We'll be looking at:

  • Strength and originality of visual taste
  • Ability to create a cohesive product world rather than isolated screens
  • UI/UX craft and attention to detail
  • Ability to design both product interfaces and game/environment assets
  • Understanding of the Plushie audience and emotional tone
  • Ability to create systems that scale across many features
  • Ability to improve an existing product without losing what makes it unique
  • Ability to clearly organize and present design thinking in Figma or an equivalent tool

Take creative liberties. You don't need to preserve the current visual style if you believe there's a stronger direction. The goal is to show us what Plushie could become with you leading its visual design.
